I’m fortunate to see our athletes at different class times over the day. Most of you are fairly regular with your routines and we, your coaches, pretty much know what’s going on in your lives outside of the gym including how it affects your performance. Most of you who hit the 4:30/5:30/6:30’s have the same struggles. You come in a flurry, rushing from work, haven’t yet decompressed from your day, your week, your month:
“My head’s just not with me today”
“I’m so overwhelmed at work right now”
“I’ve had a hard time getting here lately”
That’s why on some days, just showing up is a win for you. Today I had a conversation with a good friend who has been a member for many years. He is a fellow entrepreneur with a very busy and sometimes stressful industry. I know his athletic career, what he is capable of and his mindset. But I also know how hard he works to balance everything. So today, after fighting to make 3 days this week for the first time in a long while, he finished his wod and said, “That was really hard. I feel bad that I failed so much on those burpee box jumps.”
But you’re here. And that’s a win!
Sometimes when we put our names on the whiteboard, we should have an asterix that says **at least I’m here!
